«إذا كان يوم الجمعة قعدت الملائكة على أبواب المسجد يكتبون من جاء من الناس على قدر منازلهم، فرجل قدم جزورا ورجل قدم بقرة ورجل قدم شاة ورجل قدم دجاجة ورجل قدم عصفورا ورجل قدم بيضة، فإذا أذن المؤذن وجلس الإمام على المنبر طووا الصحف ودخلوا المسجد يستمعون الذكر»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When it is Friday, the angels sit at the doors of the mosque and record the people who come according to their ranks (that is, the time of their arrival). So one man is like the one who offers a camel in sacrifice, another like the one who offers a cow in sacrifice, another like the one who offers a goat in sacrifice, another like the one who offers a hen, another like the one who offers a sparrow, and another like the one who offers an egg. Then when the muezzin gives the call to prayer and the imam sits on the pulpit, they (the angels) roll up their registers, enter the mosque and listen to the remembrance (the sermon)."
