" لا صوم فوق صوم داود شطر الدهر صم يوما وأفطر يوما"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There is no fasting above the fasting of Dawud (peace be upon him), that is, fasting half of time: fast one day and break the fast one day."
