«إذا شك أحدكم في صلاته فليلق الشك وليبن على اليقين فإن استيقن التمام سجد سجدتين فإن كانت صلاته تامة كانت الركعة نافلة والسجدتان نافلة وإن كانت ناقصة كانت الركعة تمام الصلاة والسجدتان ترغمان أنف الشيطان»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you is in doubt in his prayer, let him cast aside the doubt and build on what is certain. Then when he is certain of the prayer's completion, let him perform two prostrations. If his prayer was complete, the (extra) rak'ah and the two prostrations will be voluntary; and if the prayer was incomplete, that rak'ah will complete the prayer and the two prostrations will be a cause of rubbing Satan's nose in the dust (humiliating him)."
