«إذا شك أحدكم في الاثنتين والواحدة فليجعلها واحدة وإذا شك في الاثنتين والثلاث فليجعلها اثنتين وإذا شك في الثلاث والأربع فليجعلها ثلاثا حتى يكون الوهم في الزيادة ثم ليتم ما بقي من صلاته ثم يسجد سجدتين وهو جالس قبل أن يسلم»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you is in doubt between two rak'ahs and one, let him count it as one; when he is in doubt between two and three, let him count it as two; and when he is in doubt between three and four, let him count it as three, so that the doubt lies on the side of excess. Then let him complete the rest of his prayer, and then perform two prostrations (of forgetfulness) while sitting, before giving the salam."
