«إذا رأيتم الناس قد مرجت عهودهم وخفت أماناتهم وكانوا هكذا - وشبك بين أصابعه - فالزم بيتك واملك عليك لسانك وخذ بما تعرفه ودع ما تنكر وعليك بأمر خاصة نفسك ودع عنك أمر العامة»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you see people in a state where their covenants and pledges have become corrupted, their trusts have become light (honesty has disappeared), and they have become entangled with one another like this" and he (peace and blessings be upon him) interlaced his fingers to show it, "then keep to your house, control your tongue, adopt what you recognise as right (according to the Shariah) and leave what you know to be wrong, concern yourself especially with your own personal affairs, and leave aside the affairs of the general public."
