«صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته وانسكوا لها فإن غم عليكم فأتموا ثلاثين فإن شهد شاهدان مسلمان فصوموا وأفطروا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Fast upon sighting the moon, stop fasting upon sighting the moon, and offer your sacrifices according to it. If (the moon) is hidden from you, then complete thirty days, and if two Muslim witnesses testify, then fast and stop fasting (accordingly)."
