«صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته فإن حال بينكم وبينه سحاب فأكملوا عدة شعبان ولا تستقبلوا الشهر استقبالا ولا تصلوا رمضان بيوم من شعبان»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Fast upon sighting the moon and stop fasting upon sighting the moon. If clouds come between you and the moon, then complete the count of Sha'ban. Do not go out to welcome the month (of Ramadan) in advance, and do not join a day of Sha'ban to Ramadan."
