«خلق الله آدم على صورته وطوله ستون ذراعا ثم قال: اذهب فسلم على أولئك النفر وهم نفر من الملائكة جلوس فاستمع ما يحيونك فإنها تحيتك وتحية ذريتك فذهب فقال: السلام عليكم فقالوا: السلام عليك ورحمة الله فزادوه ورحمة الله فكل من يدخل الجنة على صورة آدم في طوله ستون ذراعا فلم تزل الخلق تنقص بعده حتى الآن»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him) in His special form, and his height was sixty cubits. Then He said: 'Go and greet those people' - they were a group of angels sitting there - 'and listen to how they reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' So he went and said: 'As-salamu alaykum (peace be upon you).' They replied: 'As-salamu alayka wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah),' so they added 'wa rahmatullah'. So everyone who enters Paradise will be in the form of Adam (peace be upon him), sixty cubits tall, and since then the stature of creation has kept decreasing until now."
