«إن عطب منها شيء فخشيت عليه موتا فاذبحها ثم اغمس نعلها في دمها ثم اضرب بها صفحتها ولا تطعم منها أنت ولا أحد من أهل رفقتك واقسمها»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"If any of them (the sacrificial animals) breaks down and you fear it will die, then slaughter it, then dip its neck-marker in its own blood and strike it on its side. But neither you yourself nor anyone of your travelling companions should eat any of that meat; rather, distribute it (among the people)."
