«أتيت ليلة أسري بي على قوم تقرض شفاههم بمقاريض من نار كلما قرضت وفت, فقلت: يا جبريل من هؤلاء؟ قال: خطباء أمتك الذين يقولون ما لا يفعلون ويقرءون كتاب الله ولا يعملون بت»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"On the night of the Mi'raj I passed by a people whose lips were being cut with scissors of fire; every time they were cut, they became whole again as before. I asked: 'O Jibril, who are these people?' He said: 'These are the preachers (orators) of your Ummah who used to say what they themselves did not do, and who used to recite the Book of Allah but did not act upon it.'"
