Treating tonsillitis (udhrah)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! This son of mine has udhrah (a throat ailment)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not burn the throats of your children (by pressing them). Make use of Indian aloeswood (Indian costus) and wars (a yellow plant), and give it to him as medicine through the nose."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) describing olive oil and wars as a remedy for dhat al-janb (pleurisy). Qatadah said: (The way to use it is that) it is poured into the mouth from the side on which there is pain.
This hadith has a high (ali) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and with her was a woman who had her child with her, whose nostrils were flowing with blood. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with him?" The people said that he had udhrah (swelling of the throat). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to you! Do not kill your children. Any woman whose child suffers from udhrah should take Indian costus, rub it in water, and then give it to him as snuff through the nose." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), so she did that with the child, and he recovered.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
