It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no deed of a day except that it is sealed, and no night except that (its deeds) are sealed, until, when a barrier is placed between the servant and his deeds, the guardian angels say: O our Lord, this is the deed of Your servant from before his death, and You know it better (than us)." Amr said: Abd al-Karim narrated to me from Yazid bin Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him): The first to learn of a servant's death is the guardian angel, because he ascends with his deeds and descends with his provision; so when the provision stops coming, he knows that he has died.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Muhammad bin al-Munkadir says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) met, and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked: In your view, which verse in the Book of Allah gives the most hope? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Do not despair of the mercy of Allah" [Surah al-Zumar: 53]. Ibn Abbas said: But in my view it is this saying of Ibrahim (peace be upon him): "He said: Do you not believe? He said: Yes, but so that my heart may be at rest" [Surah al-Baqarah: 260]. This is for the whisperings that arise in hearts and by which Satan misleads; and Allah Almighty expressed His pleasure with Ibrahim's (peace be upon him) answer "He said: Yes."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
