Umar bin Uthman al-Jahshi narrates from his father that he said: Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) left behind neither a dinar nor a dirham. Whatever she obtained she would give away in charity, and she was a refuge for the poor. She left behind her house, which her heirs sold to al-Walid bin Abd al-Malik for fifty thousand dirhams at the time when the Mosque (of the Prophet) was being expanded.

It is narrated from Umar bin Uthman al-Jahshi, from Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Jahshi, from his father, that the mother of Sayyiduna Ukkashah bin Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: How old was Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her death? She said: "When we came to Madinah as emigrants she was a little over thirty, and she died in the year 20 AH." Umar bin Uthman says that his father used to say: "When Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) died, she was fifty-three (53) years old."
