كَانَتْ زَيْنَبُ مَأْوَى الْمَسَاكِينِ لِكَثْرَةِ صَدَقَاتِهَا
Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) was a refuge for the poor because of her abundant charity

قال: وحدثني عمر بن عثمان الجَحْشي، عن إبراهيم بن عبد الله بن محمد الجَحْشيّ، عن أبيه قال: سُئلت أمُّ عُكاشة بن مِحصَن: كم بلغت زينبُ بنتُ جَحْش يومَ تُوفِّيت؟ فقالت: قدمنا المدينةَ للهجرة وهي بنتُ بضع وثلاثين، وتُوفِّيت سنةَ عشرين. قال عمر بن عثمان: كان أبي يقول: تُوفِّيت زينب بنت جحش وهي ابنةُ ثلاثٍ وخمسين (3).

It is narrated from Umar bin Uthman al-Jahshi, from Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Jahshi, from his father, that the mother of Sayyiduna Ukkashah bin Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: How old was Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her death? She said: "When we came to Madinah as emigrants she was a little over thirty, and she died in the year 20 AH." Umar bin Uthman says that his father used to say: "When Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) died, she was fifty-three (53) years old."

(3) إسناده ضعيف بمرَّة، من فوق الواقديّ لم نتبيَّنهم. وأخرجه ابن سعد في "الطبقات" 10/ 111 - ومن طريقه الطبري في "تاريخه" 11/ 608 - عن الواقديّ، بهذا الإسناد.
