It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that he said: The name of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) was Ramlah, and she was the first woman to enter Madinah riding a camel as an emigrant. Before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) she was married to Abu Salamah Abdullah bin Abd al-Asad bin Hilal bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum. He was the first person to emigrate to Abyssinia, he took part in the battle of Badr, and he passed away in the blessed time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She bore Abu Salamah Salamah, Umar, Durrah and Zaynab; the mother of all of them is the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). After Abu Salamah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her, and her son Umar bin Abi Salamah narrated hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are present with a dead person or a sick person, say what is good, for the angels say 'Amin' to whatever you say." So when Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: What should I say? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite this supplication: 'Allahummaghfir lana wa lahu, wa a'qibni minhu uqba salihah' (O Allah! Forgive us and him, and grant me a good replacement for him)." I made this supplication, and Allah Almighty granted me the best replacement (for Abu Salamah) in the form of (the companionship of) Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
