It is narrated from Khalifah bin Khayyat that he is Shaddad bin al-Had bin Amr bin Abdullah bin Jabir bin Namir bin Amir bin Layth bin Bakr. The real name of al-Had was Usamah. He is the father of Abdullah bin Shaddad bin al-Had, and he moved to Kufah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shaddad bin al-Had (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us for one of the two daytime prayers, Zuhr or Asr, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was carrying either Hasan or Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stepped forward and placed him by his right foot. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a long prostration. I raised my head from among the people and saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in prostration and the child was riding on his (peace and blessings be upon him) back, so I went back into prostration. Then when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, the people said: O Messenger of Allah! In this prayer you made such a long prostration as you did not use to make before. Were you commanded to do something, or was revelation coming down to you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of that was the case; rather, this son of mine had mounted me, and I did not like to hurry him down and trouble him until he had fulfilled his need."
