Virtues of Salman bin Amir al-Dabbi (may Allah be pleased with him)

Ahmad bin Ya'qub informed us; he said: Musa bin Zakariyya narrated to us; he said: Khalifah bin Khayyat told us that: Salman bin Amir bin Aws bin Hujr bin Amr bin al-Harith bin Taym bin Dhuhl bin Malik bin Bakr bin Sa'd bin Dabbah settled in Basrah. He had a house next to the Jami' Mosque, and it was there that he died during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir al-Dabbi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! My father used to maintain the ties of kinship, honour guests and fulfil covenants." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did he not live to see the era of Islam?" I said: No. He says: When I turned to go back, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call that elder to me." Then he said to me: "Its effect will remain in your children and descendants; they will never be humiliated, never be disgraced, and never be in need."
After this is the honourable mention of Sayyiduna Sa'sa'ah bin Najiyah al-Mujashi'i (may Allah be pleased with him).
