Mention of the virtues of A'idh bin Amr al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him)

Ahmad bin Ya'qub al-Thaqafi informed us, from Musa bin Zakariyya, from Khalifah bin Khayyat, that he said: A'idh bin Amr bin Hilal bin Ubayd bin Rawahah bin Zabinah bin Adi bin Amir bin Abdullah bin Tha'labah bin Hudhmah bin Latim bin Uthman bin Amr, whose kunyah was Abu Hubayrah, died during the governorship of Ibn Ziyad, and he has a well-known house in Basrah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna A'idh bin Amr al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: On the day of Hunayn, while I was fighting the enemy in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), an arrow struck me in the face. When the blood flowed over my face, my beard and my chest, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over me, wiping the blood from my face and chest down to the lower part of my chest, then he supplicated for me. Hashraj says: Sayyiduna A'idh used to relate this incident to us during his lifetime. Then when he passed away and we washed him, we looked at the part of his body that he used to describe to us, and the trace of the blessed hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was there on his chest up to the very place he used to tell us of, and there a blaze (a white mark) was shining just as the white blaze on a horse's forehead shines.
