It is narrated from Makhul that he said: I was with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when al-Hajjaj set up the catapult against the Ka'bah and martyred Sayyiduna Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both). Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) strongly condemned this act and said things which al-Hajjaj disliked hearing, so al-Hajjaj ordered that he be killed, and a man from Syria struck him a blow. When al-Hajjaj came to visit him, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "You are the one who has killed me, and now you come to visit me?! Allah suffices as judge between me and you."

It is narrated from Khalifah bin Khayyat that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Basrah and went to the land of Persia as a warrior, and he passed away in Makkah in 74 AH.
