The beautiful recitation of Maslamah bin Mukhallad (may Allah be pleased with him)

It is narrated from Ibrahim bin Maysarah that he said: I heard Mujahid saying: "I prayed behind Maslamah bin Mukhallad in Egypt. He recited Surah al-Baqarah and did not drop (by mistake) even a single waw or alif from it."

It is narrated from Khalifah bin Khayyat that in that same year, that is 62 AH, Abu Sa'id Maslamah bin Mukhallad al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) died in Egypt. He was its governor, and he was the first governor for whom the governorship of Egypt and the Maghrib was combined. Narrations are reported from him, and it is mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away he was ten years old.
