It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that from Banu Salimah, a branch of Banu Jusham bin al-Khazraj, came Sayyiduna Mu'adh, Mu'awwidh and Khallad (may Allah be pleased with them), the sons of Amr bin al-Jamuh bin Zayd bin Haram bin Ka'b. He (Mu'adh) took part in the Battle of Badr and had a share in killing Abu Jahl; in that battle Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl cut off his hand. He lived until the time of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). His mother was Hind bint Amr bin Tha'labah bin Haram, and his paternal uncle was Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who was present at the Pledge of Aqabah and the Battle of Badr.
