Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were commanded to say Subhan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times after every prayer. He said: A man from the Ansar saw in a dream someone saying to him: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) command you to glorify Allah in such and such a way? He said: Yes. He said: Then make each of them 25, and include the tahlil (La ilaha illallah) among them. When morning came, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do so."
This hadith has an authentic chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with this wording; they recorded the narration of Abu Hurayrah, in which there is no mention of the dream or this addition.
