أخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله بن الحسن العَدْل بمَرْو، حدثنا يحيى بن ساسَوَيهِ الذُّهْلي، حدثنا أبو عمَّار الحسين بن حُرَيث، حدثنا عيسى بن يونس، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن عمر، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر قال: كنا نَجلِسُ عند النبي ﷺ فيقرأُ القرآنَ، فربَّما مَرَّ بسجدةٍ فيَسجُدُ ونسجدُ معه (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه! وسجودُ الصحابة لسجود رسول الله ﷺ خارجَ الصلاة سُنَّة عزيزة. حدَّثنا الحاكم أبو عبد الله محمدُ بن عبد الله الحافظُ إملاءً في ذي القَعْدة سنة أربع وتسعين وثلاث مئة:

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We used to sit with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he recited the Qur'an. Sometimes he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pass by a verse of prostration and prostrate, and we would prostrate with him (peace and blessings be upon him).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it. The Companions prostrating when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated outside the prayer is an important Sunnah.

Grading: (1) In sha' Allah, its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه أحمد 8/ (4669) و 10/ (6285)، والبخاري (1075) و (1076) و (1079)، ومسلم (575)، وأبو داود (1412)، وابن حبان (2760) من طرق عن عبيد الله بن عمر، بهذا الإسناد. فاستدراك الحاكم له على الشيخين ذهول منه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (8/4669 etc.), al-Bukhari (1075, 1076, 1079), Muslim (575), Abu Dawud (1412) and Ibn Hibban (2760) narrated it through various routes from 'Ubaydullah bin 'Umar.
Important point: Al-Hakim's including it as an addition (istidrak) to what the two Shaykhs recorded is an oversight (dhuhul) on his part.
وأخرجه أحمد 10/ (6461)، وأبو داود (1413) من طريقين عن عبد الله بن عمر - وهو العمري أخو عبيد الله - عن نافع، به. زاد فيه أبو داود التكبير قبل السجود. وعبد الله العمري ضعيف يُعتبَر به، وقد تفرَّد بذكر التكبير، وذكر عبد الرزاق في روايته عند أبي داود: أنَّ سفيان الثوري كان يعجبه حديث عبد الله هذا؛ قال أبو داود: يعجبه لأنه كبَّر.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (10/6461) and Abu Dawud (1413) narrated it through two routes from 'Abdullah al-'Umari (the brother of 'Ubaydullah). Abu Dawud's version adds the mention of the takbir before the prostration, but 'Abdullah al-'Umari is weak and is alone in mentioning the takbir.
