It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Buraq was brought to me, and I rode behind Jibril (peace be upon him), and it travelled with us. Its manner was such that when it climbed a mountain its hind legs would rise, and when it descended its forelegs would rise." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then it travelled with us through a land that was very dark and foul-smelling, until we reached a land that was vast, wide and pure. I said: 'O Jibril! We were travelling through a dark and foul-smelling land, and then we reached a vast, wide and pure land?' Jibril (peace be upon him) said: 'That was the land of Hell, and this is the land of Paradise.'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I came to a man standing in prayer, and he said: 'O Jibril! Who is this with you?' He said: 'This is your brother Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).' He welcomed me, supplicated for blessing for me and said: 'Ask for ease for your Ummah.' I asked: 'O Jibril! Who is this?' He said: 'This is your brother Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon them both).'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then we went on and I perceived a (loud) voice and displeasure. Then we came to a man and he asked: 'O Jibril! Who is this?' He said: 'This is your brother Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).' He welcomed me, supplicated for blessing for me and said: 'Ask for ease for your Ummah.' I asked: 'O Jibril! Who is this?' He said: 'This is your brother Musa (peace be upon him).'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked: 'At whom were his displeasure and raised voice directed?' Jibril said: 'At his Lord.' I asked in astonishment: 'At his Lord?!' Jibril said: 'Yes, Allah Almighty is aware of this sharpness of his.'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then we went on and I saw lamps and light, and I asked: 'O Jibril! What is this?' He said: 'This is the tree of your father Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Would you like to go near it?' I said: 'Yes.' So we went near it, and he welcomed me and supplicated for blessing for me. Then we went on until we came to Bayt al-Maqdis, and I tied the mount to the ring to which the prophets used to tie (their mounts). Then I entered the mosque, and all of the prophets, those whose names Allah Almighty has told us and those whose names He has not, gave me glad tidings. Then I led them all in prayer, except for these three: Ibrahim, Musa and Isa (peace be upon them)."
Abu Hamzah al-A'war Maymun is alone in narrating this hadith, and our Imams have differed about him. He has also narrated some additions in the mention of the Mi'raj which the two Shaykhs (may Allah have mercy on them both) did not record.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (3) Our manuscripts have "فسار بها إذ أتى رجل", and this is a corruption; the closest thing to the correct reading is what we have established, in agreement with the sources of the takhrij.
Note / Clarification: (1) "أَرْضٌ غُمَّةٌ" means: a narrow land, and "الْأَرْضُ الْفَيْحَاءُ": a spacious land.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) The text between the square brackets had dropped out of the manuscripts; we have supplied it from the sources of the takhrij, and it is indispensable. In manuscripts (Z) and (B), after the words "قَالَ: قُلْتُ", there is a blank space about half a line long.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (3) In the manuscripts it reads "مصابيحًا" (with the alif), and the standard usage is what we have established (as the word is diptote).
Note / Clarification: (4) "بَشَرَتْ بِي" means: they were delighted by me (by my arrival).
Grading: (5) Its chain is very weak and its text is "munkar". Abu Hamzah al-A'war is alone in narrating it, as the author (al-Hakim) said, and there is agreement on his weakness. Ibrahim is Ibn Yazid al-Nakha'i and 'Alqamah is Ibn Qays al-Nakha'i. Reference / Source: Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated it in his "Musnad", as found in "Bughyat al-Bahith" (22), 'Abd Allah bin Ahmad in "al-Sunnah" (1039), al-Bazzar (1568), Abu Ya'la (5036), al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (5008) and (5012), al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (1707), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (9976), and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 4/ 234, by various routes from Hammad bin Salamah, with this chain. Reference / Source: See the hadith of the Mi'raj in full, by a sahih route and with a sound wording, from the hadith of Anas and others, in "Musnad Ahmad" 19/ (21505) and the annotation on it. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: As for his (peace and blessings be upon him) leading the Prophets in prayer, it is narrated in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah with Muslim in his "Sahih" (173), and in the hadith of Anas with al-Nasa'i in "al-Mujtaba" (450), and neither of them contains an exception of any of the Prophets.
