It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed, or smiled, and then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not ask me what I laughed at?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) himself said: "I marvelled at the servant's disputing with his Lord on the Day of Resurrection. He will say: 'O my Lord! Did You not promise me that You would not wrong me?' Allah Almighty will say: 'Certainly!' He will say: 'Then I will never accept the testimony of anyone against me except from my own self.' Allah Almighty will say: 'Are My testimony and My noble angels who record the deeds not sufficient?' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That servant will repeat these words several times, so a seal will be placed upon his mouth and his limbs will speak out his deeds. Then that servant will say (to his limbs): 'Away with you and may you be ruined! It was only for your sake that I was disputing.'"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) This hadith is sahih, and there is no harm in the narrators of this chain, except that it is "munqati'" (disconnected), for 'Ubayd al-Mukattib inserted Fudayl bin 'Amr al-Fuqaymi between himself and al-Sha'bi (who is not mentioned here), as will come in narrations from him other than that of Sharik, who is Ibn Abi Namir. Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la (3975) and Abu al-Qasim bin Bishran in his "Amali" (381) narrated it by two routes from 'Ali bin Qadim, with this chain. Reference / Source: Muslim (2969), al-Nasa'i (11589) and Ibn Hibban (7358) narrated it by way of Sufyan al-Thawri, from 'Ubayd bin Mihran al-Mukattib, from Fudayl bin 'Amr, from al-Sha'bi, with it. So al-Hakim's including it (in the Mustadrak) is an oversight on his part.
