Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8980

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Wasi'; he said: I went to Bilal bin Abi Burdah and said to him: "O Bilal! Indeed, your father narrated to me, through your grandfather, this hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Indeed, in Hell there is a valley. In that valley there is a well called Habhab, and it is a right upon Allah Almighty that He will make every tyrant dwell in it.' So beware, O Bilal, of becoming one of them."
Azhar bin Sinan is alone in narrating this hadith from Muhammad bin Wasi'; we have written it with a high chain (with few intermediaries) only through this route.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (4) In the manuscripts it reads "وادٍ", and the standard usage is what we have established, in the accusative (mansub).

Grading: (5) Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Azhar bin Sinan.
Reference / Source: It passed earlier at number (8145) with a chain one step lower (nazil) from Yazid bin Harun.
Note / Clarification: That is why the author (al-Hakim) said right after it here: "We have not written it with a high ('ali) chain except by this route."
