It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting when we saw him (peace and blessings be upon him) smile so that his front teeth became visible. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what made you laugh? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two men of my Ummah were on their knees before the Lord of Might. One of them said: O my Lord, take my right (for the wrong done to me) from this brother of mine. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said to the claimant: What will you do with your brother when nothing remains of his good deeds? He said: O my Lord, then let him carry the burden of my sins." (While relating this) the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) flowed with tears. Then he said: "Indeed, that will be a tremendous day; people will be in need of having the burden of their sins shared. Then Allah said to the claimant: Raise your gaze and look at these gardens. He raised his head and said: O my Lord, I see cities of gold and palaces of gold studded with pearls. For which prophet, which truthful one (siddiq) or which martyr are these? Allah said: This is for whoever pays its price. He said: O my Lord, and who can possess its price? Allah said: You can possess it. He asked: How? He said: By forgiving your brother. He said: O my Lord, I have forgiven him. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Take your brother by the hand and bring him into Paradise." At that point the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fear Allah and set right your mutual affairs, for Allah Almighty makes reconciliation between the Muslims."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z), (K) and (B) the (word) is "مدللة", while what we have established from manuscript (M) and the referencing sources is the correct one (i.e. مكللة). "مكللة" means: surrounded with crowns/strings of pearls.
Grading: This chain is utterly weak. 'Abbad bin Shaybah is weak and munkar al-hadith, and his shaykh is "not known", as al-Dhahabi said in the "Talkhis". Al-Bukhari mentioned this hadith in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (3/459) in the discussion of injustices (al-mazalim) and said: "He is not corroborated in it." Ibn Hajar, after citing it in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (4590) from Abu Ya'la, said: "Very weak (da'if jiddan)." Reference / Source: Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "Husn al-Zann billah" (118), Abu Ya'la in "al-Musnad al-Kabir" (as is in al-Matalib 4590), Ibn Abi Dawud in "al-Ba'th" (32) and al-Khara'iti in "Masawi' al-Akhlaq" (644) recorded it through several routes from Abd Allah bin Bakr al-Sahmi with this same chain.
