أخبرنا أبو الحسين محمد بن أحمد بن تَميمٍ القَنطَري ببغداد، حدثنا أبو قِلابةَ، حدثنا أبو عاصم، حدثنا عبد الحميد بن جعفر، حدثني أَبي، عن سعيد بن عُمَير قال: جلستُ إلى عبد الله بن عمر وأبي سعيدٍ الخُدْري يومَ الجمعة، فقال أحدُهما: سمعت رسولَ الله ﷺ يقول: "يُلجِمُ العرقُ الناسَ"، فقال: "إلى شَحْمةِ أُذُنيهِ"، وقال الآخر: "يُلجِمُه"؛ فقال ابن عمر بإصبَعِه تحتَ شحمةِ أُذنِه (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with them) that one of them said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The sweat will bridle the people." He said: "Up to their earlobes." And the other said: "It will bridle him." Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) pointed with his finger beneath his earlobe.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل سعيد بن عمير الحارثي. أبو قلابة: هو عبد الملك بن محمد الرَّقاشي، وأبو عاصم: هو الضحاك مخلد بن وعبد الحميد بن جعفر: هو ابن عبد الله بن الحكم الأنصاري.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" because of Sa'id bin 'Umayr al-Harithi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Qilabah is "Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad al-Raqashi", Abu 'Asim is "al-Dahhak bin Makhlad", and Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far is "Ibn Abd Allah bin al-Hakam al-Ansari".
وأخرجه أحمد 18 / (11859) عن الضحاك بن مخلد بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (18/11859) recorded it from al-Dahhak bin Makhlad with this same chain.

وأخرج أحمد (8/ 4613)، والبخاري (4938)، ومسلم (2862)، وابن ماجه (4278)، والترمذي (2422)، والنسائي (11592)، وابن حبان (7331) من طريق نافع، عن ابن عمر، عن النبي ﷺ ﴿يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾ [المطففين: 6] قال: "يقوم أحدهم في رشحه إلى أنصاف أُذنيه". وانظر تمام شواهده في "مسند أحمد".
Reference / Source: Ahmad (8/4613), al-Bukhari (4938), Muslim (2862), Ibn Majah (4278), al-Tirmidhi (2422), al-Nasa'i (11592) and Ibn Hibban (7331) recorded it via Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), concerning the verse ﴿يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾ (the Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One of them will stand submerged in his sweat up to the middle of his ears."
