حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث، أنَّ أبا عُشَّانةَ المَعافِري حدَّثه، أنه سمع عُقْبةَ بن عامر الجُهَني يقول: رأيتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "تَدْنو الشمسُ من الأرض فيَعرَقُ الناسُ، فمِن الناسِ من يَبْلُغُ عَرَقُه إلى كَعَبَيهِ، ومنهم من يَبلُغ إلى نصفِ الساق، ومنهم من يَبلُغ إلى رُكبَتيهِ، ومنهم من يَبلُغ العَجُزَ، ومنهم من يَبلُغ الخاصرةَ، ومنهم من يَبلُغ مَنكِبيَه، ومنهم من يَبلُغ عُنقَه، ومنهم من يَبلُغ وَسَطَ فيه - وأشار بيده فألجَمَها فاه؛ رأيت رسول الله ﷺ هكذا. ومنهم من يُغطِّيه عَرَقُه" وضَرَبَ بيده إشارةً، فَأَمَرَ يدَه فوق رأسه من غير أن يصيبَ الرأسَ دَوْرُ راحتِه (1)، يمينًا وشمالًا (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The sun will draw near to the earth and people will be drenched in sweat. The sweat of some people will reach their ankles, of some to the middle of the shin, of some to their knees, of some to the buttocks, of some to the waist, of some to their shoulders, of some to their neck, and of some to the middle of the mouth" - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand and showed it by bringing it to his mouth; I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (doing) it like this - "and some people will be such that their sweat will cover them completely." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand, passing it over his head without the hand touching the head, to the right and the left.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى راحلته. ودَوْر الراحة: باطن الكفّ.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts the (word) has been distorted into "راحلته" (his mount). (The correct word is "راحته".) And "دور الراحة" means the inner part of the palm.
(2) إسناده صحيح ابن وهب هو عبد الله، وأبو عشّانة: هو حيُّ بن يُومِن.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Wahb is "Abd Allah bin Wahb", and Abu 'Ushshanah's name is "Hayy bin Yu'min".
وأخرجه ابن حبان (7329) من طريق حرملة بن يحيى التُّجيبي، عن ابن وهب، بهذا الإسناد. وأخرجه أحمد 28/ (17439) من طريق عبد الله بن لَهيعة، عن أبي عشانة، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7329) recorded it via Harmalah bin Yahya al-Tujibi, from Ibn Wahb, with this same chain. Ahmad (28/17439) also narrated it via Abd Allah bin Lahi'ah, from Abu 'Ushshanah, likewise.
ويشهد له حديث المقداد بن الأسود عند أحمد 39 / (23813) ومسلم (2864) وغيرهما.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A "shahid" (supporting report) for this hadith is the hadith of al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him), found in Musnad Ahmad (39/23813), Sahih Muslim (2864) and elsewhere.
