Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8879

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will send a wind containing severe cold, which will not leave a single believer on the face of the earth without taking his soul. Then the Hour will be established (only) upon the worst of people.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is soft (layyin), because Abu al-Za'ra' is alone in narrating it, as was explained under the earlier lengthy narration number (8729).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In this narration the wind that will be sent at the end of time is described as "zamharir" (bitterly cold), which contradicts the description established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): he (peace and blessings be upon him) called it a "pleasant wind" (rih tayyibah), as in the earlier hadiths of 'A'ishah and al-Nawwas bin Sam'an under numbers (8586) and (8718). And the gist of those two hadiths is that the Hour will be established upon those people in whom there is no good.
