It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the last times, such a severe affliction will descend upon my Ummah from their rulers that no harsher calamity will have ever been heard of before, until the spacious earth becomes narrow for them and the earth is filled with oppression and tyranny. The believer will find no refuge in which to shelter from oppression. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will raise up a man from my family (itrah) who will fill the earth with equity and justice just as it had been filled with oppression and tyranny. All the dwellers of the heavens and the dwellers of the earth will be pleased with him. The earth will not store away any portion of its produce except that it will bring it forth, and the sky will not hold back any drop of rain except that Allah will pour it down upon them in abundance. He will live among them for seven, eight or nine years. Seeing the good that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will have bestowed upon the people of the earth, the living will wish that the dead were alive."
The chain of this hadith is authentic (sahih), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (M) it is written "Ibrahim bin 'Abd al-Humaydi".
Grading: Its chain is "muzlim" (dark, i.e. severely weak), as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis". Technical note / Defect ('illah): We did not find any biography for (the narrator) al-Hasan bin Ibrahim al-Himyari. Al-Qasim bin Khalifah was mentioned by Ibn Abi Hatim in "al-Jarh wa-l-Ta'dil" (7/ 109), who related from al-Hafiz 'Ali bin al-Husayn bin al-Junayd that he said: "I wrote from him, and he was a Shi'i." More than one narrator narrated from 'Umar bin 'Abd Allah al-'Adawi (who is 'Umar bin 'Ubayd Allah bin 'Abd Allah bin 'Umar), but his being declared trustworthy is not reported from anyone except Ibn Hibban; so both he and al-Qasim bin Khalifah are in a state of "jahalah" (being unknown). Technical note / Defect ('illah): We did not find this hadith with this chain with anyone other than the author; however, this hadith with this wording is well known from the narration of Abu Harun al-'Abdi from Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah. Reference / Source: Ma'mar narrated it in "al-Jami'" (in the narration of 'Abd al-Razzaq, 20770), and via his route al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (1811), Abu al-Tayyib al-Hawrani in his "Juz'" (41), Abu Ahmad al-Hakim in his "Fawa'id" (82) and Abu Muhammad al-Baghawi in "Sharh al-Sunnah" (4280). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Harun al-'Abdi is "'Umarah bin Juwayn", who is "matruk al-hadith" (abandoned in hadith), and some called him a liar. (8883). Details of the narration: Some parts of this hadith will come with the author from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji (whose name is Bakr bin 'Amr) through other chains later at no. (8882), (8886), (8887) and (8888); also see no. (8883).
