Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 857

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن الخليل الأصبهاني، حدثنا موسى بن إسحاق القاضي، حدثنا مِنْجاب بن الحارث. وحدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن جعفر المزكِّي في آخرين قالوا: حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق، حدثنا علي بن حُجْر، قالا: حدثنا علي بن مُسهِر، عن الأعمش، عن أبي صالح، عن أبي هريرة وأبي سعيد، عن النبي ﷺ في قوله - جلَّ وعزَّ - ﴿إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا﴾ [الإسراء: 78]، قال: "تَشْهَدُه ملائكةُ الليل، وملائكةُ النهار، تَجتمِعُ فيها" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with them both), concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, the recitation of the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed" [Surah al-Isra: 78], that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At that time the angels of the night and the angels of the day are present, and they gather together."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. محمد بن إسحاق: هو ابن خزيمة الإمام.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Muhammad bin Ishaq refers to Imam Ibn Khuzaymah.
وأخرجه الترمذي بإثر (3135) عن علي بن حُجْر، بهذا الإسناد. وتابع عليَّ بنَ مسهر بذكر أبي سعيد الخدري فيه حفصُ بن غياث والقاسم بن يحيى فيما ذكره البخاري في "القراءة خلف الإمام" (253).
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi narrated it from Ali bin Hujr.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Ali bin Mushir was also corroborated by Hafs bin Ghiyath and al-Qasim bin Yahya (al-Bukhari, al-Qira'ah Khalf al-Imam 253).
وأخرجه أحمد 16/ (10133)، وابن ماجه (670)، والترمذي (3135)، والنسائي (11229) من طريق أسباط بن محمد، عن الأعمش، به. عن أبي هريرة وحده، وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (16/10133), Ibn Majah (670), al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i narrated it by the chain of Asbat bin Muhammad from al-A'mash, from Abu Hurayrah alone. Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih".
وروي نحوه من حديث سعيد بن المسيب وأبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة عند البخاري (648) و (4717) ومسلم (649)، وانظر تمام تخريجه في "مسند أحمد" 12/ (7185).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar narration by the chain of Sa'id bin al-Musayyib and Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah is in al-Bukhari (648) and Muslim (649).
