It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until Allah Almighty takes away His chosen (righteous) ones from the people of the earth. Then only rowdy rabble will remain, who will neither recognise any good nor forbid any evil."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain on the condition of the two Shaykhs, provided that al-Hasan al-Basri's hearing from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr is established.

(132). Grading: This hadith is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim), except that al-Hasan al-Basri did not explicitly state that he heard from Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). Ali bin al-Madini held that al-Hasan heard nothing from Abdullah bin Amr, and Ibn Abi Hatim affirmed this in "al-Marasil" (132). Reference / Source: Ahmad (11/6964) recorded it from Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (6965) recorded it from Affan bin Muslim, from Hammam bin Yahya, likewise, but he did not trace it back as marfu' to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); rather, he made it a saying of Abdullah bin Amr. Grading: But such a statement cannot be said on the basis of opinion (so it has the ruling of marfu'), and the "mahfuz" (preserved) version is that it is marfu'. (8880). (8880). Note / Clarification: For further detail, see the hadiths coming ahead with the author at numbers (8613), (8616), (8697), (8867) and (8880). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported (a shahid) by the narration before it. General principle: "Al-'ajaj" refers to the base, rowdy people among mankind and those in whom there is no good (singular: "'ajajah").
