حدثني أبو محمد عبد الرحمن بن حَمْدَانَ الجَلّاب بهَمَذان - وأنا سألته - حدثنا أبو حاتم محمد بن إدريس، حدثنا عمر بن حفص بن غِيَاثَ النَّخَعي، حدثنا أَبي، عن مِسعَر، عن طلحة بن مُصرِّف، عن أبي مُسلِم الأغرِّ، عن أبي هريرة، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "لا تنتهي البعوثُ عن غَزْوِ بيتِ الله تعالى حتى يُخسَفَ بجيشٍ منهم" (2).
هذا حديث غريب صحيح، ولم يُخرجاه. ولا أعلم أحدًا حدَّث به غيرَ عمر بن حفص بن غِيَاث، تفرَّد به عنه (3) الإمام أبو حاتم.

هذا حديث غريب صحيح، ولم يُخرجاه. ولا أعلم أحدًا حدَّث به غيرَ عمر بن حفص بن غِيَاث، تفرَّد به عنه (3) الإمام أبو حاتم.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The armies will not desist from invading the House of Allah Almighty until one army of them is swallowed up by the earth."
This hadith is gharib (singular) and sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it. I do not know of anyone other than Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath who narrated it, and Imam Abu Hatim is alone in narrating it (from him).

(3) تحرَّفت هذه العبارة في (ز) و (ك) و (م) إلى: تعدد به عند، وفي (ب): يرويه عنه، والمثبت هو الصواب كما صوَّبت في (م).
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z), (K) and (M) this phrase is distorted into "تعدد به عند", and in (B) into "يرويه عنه". What we have established in the text is correct, as it was corrected in manuscript (M).
وأبو حاتم لم يتفرَّد به كما زعم المصنف - وإن كان أهلًا للتفرد - فقد رواه أيضًا عبيد بن غنام ابن أخي عمر بن حفص عند أبي نعيم في "حلية الأولياء" 7/ 244 فقال: وجدتُ في كتاب عمِّي عمر بن حفص بن غياث … وذكره.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hatim is not alone in this narration as the author (al-Hakim) claimed (even though he is worthy of being alone); for Ubayd bin Ghannam (the nephew of Umar bin Hafs) also narrated it, in Abu Nu'aym's "Hilyat al-Awliya'" (7/244); he said: "I found in the book of my paternal uncle Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath" and then mentioned the hadith.
