Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8491

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الحافظ، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى حَدَّثَنَا مسدَّد. وحدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذَ، حَدَّثَنَا أبو المثنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن المِنْهال؛ قالا: حَدَّثَنَا يزيد بن زُرَيع، حَدَّثَنَا مَعمَر، عن الزُّهْري، عن أنس بن مالك: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ كَوَى أسعدَ بن زُرَارة من الشَّوكة (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cauterized Sayyiduna As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him) because of "shawkah" (a kind of redness or swelling).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Grading: This hadith is sahih, but through the narration of al-Zuhri from Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf, as its explanation has already passed at the earlier narration number (4920).
