Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8487

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever visits a sick person whose appointed time has not yet come, and says seven times in his presence: 'As'alullahal-'Azim, Rabbal-'Arshil-'Azim, an yashfiyak' (I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you), Allah will certainly grant him well-being from that illness."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it, even though they both agreed upon the hadith of al-Minhal bin Amr with this same chain: "He used to seek refuge (for) al-Hasan and al-Husayn."

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "jayyid" (good) because of Yazid al-Dalani, and the hadith has passed through his route at number (1284).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): And 'Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hasan al-Qadi, although there is weakness in him, has been corroborated (mutaba') here.

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: al-Bukhari narrated it at number (3371) through the route of al-Minhal, from Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek protection for al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) and would say: "Your father (Ibrahim, peace be upon him) used to seek protection for Isma'il and Ishaq (peace be upon them) with these words: a'udhu bi-kalimat Allah al-tammah, min kulli shaytanin wa hammah, wa min kulli 'aynin lammah (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every venomous creature, and from every harmful eye)."
Note / Clarification: Muslim did not record it, and al-Minhal is not among the narrators (rijal) of "Sahih Muslim".
