أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا محمد بن غالب بن حَرْب والحُسين بن بشَّار (3) الخيّاط، قالا: حَدَّثَنَا عبيد الله بن محمدٍ ابن عائشةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حمَّاد بن سَلَمة، عن حُميد، عن أنس بن مالك، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ (4) قال: "إذا حُمَّ أحدُكم، فليَشُنَّ (5) عليه الماءَ الباردَ من السَّحَر ثلاثَ ليالٍ" (6).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه. وشاهدُه:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you has a fever, let him pour cold water over himself at the time of sahar (before dawn) for three nights."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. And its supporting hadith (shahid) is the following:

(3) تصحف في النسخ الخطية إلى: يسار، والصواب: بشار، بباء موحدة وشين معجمة كما في "تلخيص المتشابه في الرسم" للخطيب ص 688.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name is misspelt (tashif, a dotting error) as "Yasar", whereas the correct form is "Bashshar" (with a one-dotted ba' and a dotted shin)

(4) قوله: "أَنَّ رسول الله ﷺ" سقط من (ز) و (ب).
Note / Clarification: The phrase "أَنَّ رسول الله ﷺ" has dropped out (is missing) from manuscripts (Z) and (B).
(5) هكذا في الطبعة الهندية، وهو الصواب الموافق لما سلف عند المصنّف برقم (7626)، وفي النسخ الخطية: فلينشّ، بتقديم النون، وهي كذلك في رواية أبي بكر الشافعي عن علي بن أحمد بن النضر عن ابن عائشة عند الضياء في "الأحاديث المختارة" 6/ (2045)، قال الضياء: ولعله تصحيف والله أعلم.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is like this in the Indian printing, and this is correct, agreeing with the narration that passed with the author (al-Hakim) at number (7626), whereas in the manuscripts the word is "فلينشّ" (with the nun placed first), and it is likewise in al-Diya' al-Maqdisi's
Reference / Source: "al-Ahadith al-Mukhtarah" 6/ (2045), in the narration of Abu Bakr al-Shafi'i (from Ali bin Ahmad bin al-Nadr, from Ibn A'ishah), on which al-Diya' said: Perhaps this is a tashif (scribal error); and Allah knows best.

Grading: Its narrators (rijal) are thiqah.
