مَنْ كَذَبَ فِي حُلْمِهِ كُلِّفَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَقْدَ شَعِيرَةٍ

حدَّثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب، حدَّثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حدَّثنا مُسدَّد، حدَّثنا أبو عَوَانة، عن عبد الأعلى، عن أبي عبد الرحمن السُّلَمي عن عليٍّ، أن النبي ﷺ قال: "مَن كَذَب في حُلْمِه، كُلِّف يومَ القيامة أن يَعقِدَ بين شَعيرتَين" (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fabricates a dream will be ordered on the Day of Resurrection to tie a knot between two grains of barley."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف كسابقه. يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى: هو الذُّهلي، وأبو عوانة: هو الوضاح بن عبد الله اليشكري.
Grading: (2) This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi", while this chain is weak like the previous chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Muhammad bin Yahya is "al-Dhuhli", and Abu Awanah is "al-Waddah bin Abd Allah al-Yashkuri".
وأخرجه أحمد 2/ (789)، وابنه عبد الله في زياداته (1070) و (1089)، والترمذي (2282) من طرق عن أبي عوانة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (2/789), his son Abd Allah in his additions (1070, 1089), and al-Tirmidhi (2282) narrated it via various routes from Abu Awanah with this same chain.
