Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8375

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the morning prayer, he would ask: "Has any of you seen a dream last night? Know that nothing of prophethood will remain after me except the true dream."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) Manuscripts (Z), (M) and (B) add "bin Talhah" here, which is an error; the correct reading omits it, as in manuscript (K).

Note / Clarification: (2) In the manuscripts this name is distorted into "Ru'bah"; it has been corrected from the source works of the takhrij.

Grading: (3) Its chain is sahih. This narration is in "Muwatta' Malik" (2/956-957).
Reference / Source: Via Malik it was narrated by Ahmad (14/8313), Abu Dawud (5017), al-Nasa'i (7574) and Ibn Hibban (6048). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the narrations of Ma'n bin Isa and Ibn al-Qasim from Malik in al-Nasa'i, it occurs as: "Ishaq from Zufar bin Sa'sa'ah from Abu Hurayrah", i.e. with the intermediary between them dropped. Whereas what is preserved (mahfuz) from Malik in the narrations of all his other students is that the intermediary is present.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (6990) narrated something similar via al-Zuhri, from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him).
