It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Razin al-Uqayli (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The dream of a believer is one part of the forty-six parts of prophethood, and it is upon the leg of a bird as long as it is not related; then when it is related, it comes to pass."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with these additional words.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) The text from "qala Abu Hurayrah" in the previous hadith up to here is missing from manuscripts (Z) and (B).
Grading: (2) Its chain is weak (da'if). Technical note / Defect ('illah): No one narrated from Waki' bin Udus (or Hudus) except Ya'la bin Ata'. Ibn al-Qattan al-Fasi said: he is majhul al-hal (of unknown condition); al-Dhahabi said: he is not known; Ibn Qutaybah said: he is not known. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar called him "maqbul" (acceptable) in "al-Taqrib". Despite all this, al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibban declared this hadith "sahih", and al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar called it "hasan" in "Fath al-Bari" (22/527).
Reference / Source: Ahmad (26/16195, 16197), al-Tirmidhi (2278) and Ibn Hibban (6049) narrated it via various routes from Shu'bah with this same chain. All of them except Ibn Hibban added at its end: "And I think he said: He should not relate it to anyone except one who loves him or one who is wise." Grading: Al-Tirmidhi said: this hadith is "hasan sahih".
Reference / Source: Ahmad (26/16182, 16183), Abu Dawud (5020), Ibn Majah (3914) and Ibn Hibban (6050, 6055) narrated it with the mentioned addition or something similar, via two routes from Ya'la bin Ata'. The narration of Abu Dawud lacks the first part of the hadith.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The supporting report (shahid) for the first part of this hadith is the previous hadith of Abu Hurayrah, which is in the "Sahihayn" (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The supporting report for the meaning of the second part is the hadith of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in al-Darimi (2209) with the wording: "When you interpret a dream for a Muslim, interpret it for good, for the dream turns out according to how its owner interprets it." Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared its chain hasan in "al-Fath", even though it contains the 'an'anah of Muhammad bin Ishaq, and he commits tadlis.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And the hadith of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that comes later under no. (8376) (is also a supporting report).
