حدَّثَناه أبو بكر بن إسحاق الإمام وأبو الحسن علي بن حَمْشَاذَ العَدْل، قالا: أخبرنا محمد بن غالب بن حَرْب، حدثنا أبو همَّام محمد بن مُحبَّب، حدثنا سفيان الثَّوري، حدثنا أبو إسحاق، عن حارثة بن مُضرِّب، عن الفُرَات بن حيَّان - وكان عينًا لأبي سفيان وحليفًا - وكان رسولُ الله ﷺ قد أمرَ بقتلِه، فمرَّ على حَلْقة من الأنصار، فقال: إنّي مُسلِمٌ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "إن منكم رِجالًا نَكِلُهم إلى إيمانِهم، منهم الفُرَاتُ بن حيّان" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Furat bin Hayyan (may Allah be pleased with him). He (Furat bin Hayyan) was a spy for Abu Sufyan and an ally (of the polytheists), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered that he be killed. He passed by a gathering of the Ansar and said: I am a Muslim. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among you are men whom we entrust to their faith, and Furat bin Hayyan is one of them."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
