Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and this chain is weak like the previous one.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari narrated it in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (7/54), Abd Allah bin Ahmad in his additions to his father's book "al-Zuhd" (1197), Abu Ya'la (7275), al-Khara'iti in "Makarim al-Akhlaq" (456), al-Mahamili in "al-Amali" (365, narration of Ibn Yahya al-Bayyi'), al-Quda'i in "Musnad al-Shihab" (545) and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (5371), via Mu'alla bin Mansur al-Razi, with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: As for his statement at the end, "except that he said: from Uqayl", its meaning is not clear to us; perhaps he meant that in this narration the name of Aqil the mawla of Ibn Abbas is vocalised with a dammah on the ayn (Uqayl), contrary to the well-known pronunciation with a fathah on the ayn (Aqil). And Allah knows best.
