It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah curse the one who slaughters in the name of other than Allah; may Allah curse the one who alters the boundaries (markers) of the land; may Allah curse the one who misleads a blind man from the road; may Allah curse the one who reviles his father; may Allah curse the one who takes as patrons others than his own patrons (those who freed him); and may Allah curse the one who commits the act of the people of Lut."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Sahih li-ghayrihi. Technical note: This chain is weak because of inconsistency in it, as explained earlier (at no. 8245). (The narrator) "Abu al-Muthanna al-Anbari" is "Mu'adh bin al-Muthanna bin Mu'adh". Reference / Source: Ahmad (5/2816) narrated it from Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi, and Ibn Hibban (4417) via Abd al-Malik bin Amr; both of them from Zuhayr bin Muhammad, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (3037), Ibn Majah (2609) and Ibn Hibban (417) narrated via Abd Allah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, from Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, that he (Sa'id) heard him say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever claims descent from someone other than his father, or takes as patrons others than his own patrons (mawali), upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people." Grading of the chain: Its chain is strong (qawi). Reference / Source: Ahmad (2921) narrated via Abd al-Hamid bin Bahram, from Shahr bin Hawshab, who said: Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any man who claims descent from someone other than his father, or takes as patrons others than the patrons who freed him, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people until the Day of Resurrection; neither an obligatory nor a voluntary deed will be accepted from him." Grading of the chain: Its chain is "hasan" in corroborations and supporting reports. Supporting reports and corroborations: On this topic there is a narration from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Bukhari (1870) and Muslim (1370, 1978), but it does not mention "the curse upon one who does the deed of the people of Lut". We have not found any supporting report for it (the part about cursing) except the previous hadith of Abu Hurayrah (8246), but that too has the wording of "stoning", not cursing, and it is not sound. (8222). Note: See the previous hadith of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) (8222). Linguistic note: The phrase "kammaha al-a'ma" (with fathah on the kaf and shaddah on the mim) means: he misled him (made him lose the way).
