أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن علي الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا أحمد بن حازم الغِفاري، حدثنا موسى بن داود الضَّبّي، حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم، عن يحيى بن سعيد، عن أبي مسلم الخَوْلاني، عن عُبيد بن عُمير، عن أبي ذرّ قال: قال لي رسول الله ﷺ: "القبورُ تذكِّرُ زائريها الآخرةَ، واغسِلِ الموتَى، فإِنَّ مُعالجةَ جسدٍ خاوٍ موعظةٌ بليغةٌ، وصلِّ على الجنائز لعلَّ ذلك أن يَحزُنَك، فإنَّ الحزينَ في ظلِّ الله يومَ القيامة" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Graves remind their visitors of the Hereafter. Wash the dead, for tending to a lifeless body is a most effective admonition. And offer the funeral prayers, perhaps that will make you sorrowful (concerned), for the sorrowful one will be in the shade of Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لانقطاعه، كما قال الذهبي، ومتنه منكر كما قال البيهقي. يحيى بن سعيد لم يدرك أبا مسلم الخولاني، بينهما رجل مبهم كما سبق بيانه برقم (1411).
Grading: Its chain is weak because it is munqati' (as al-Dhahabi said), and its text is munkar (as al-Bayhaqi said).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Sa'id did not meet Abu Muslim al-Khawlani; between them is an unnamed man, as explained earlier at no. (1411).
