It is narrated from Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man said: O Prophet of Allah! I stand in a place (for a good deed) where my aim is to seek the pleasure of Allah, but I also like that my position be seen (by people). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him no reply until this verse was revealed: "So whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him do righteous deeds." [Surah al-Kahf: 110]
