Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7940

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man should walk between two women.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "Abi" has dropped out (been omitted) from the manuscripts.

Grading: Its chain is extremely weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): About Dawud bin Abi Salih (al-Madani), Abu Hatim al-Razi says that he is "majhul" (unknown) and narrated a munkar hadith. Abu Zur'ah says: I know him only through a single hadith that he narrates from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and that hadith is munkar. Imam al-Bukhari mentioned this hadith of his in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 3/ 234 and said that he is not corroborated in it. For this reason 'Allamah al-Dhahabi declared it defective (weak) in "al-Talkhis".
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (5273) narrated it through the chain of Muhammad bin Yahya bin Faris from Salm bin Qutaybah in the same way.
