Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is extremely weak, because its narrator "'Adi bin al-Fadl" is matruk (abandoned, unacceptable), and on this basis 'Allamah al-Dhahabi declared it defective (weak) in "al-Talkhis".
Reference / Source: Abu al-Shaykh narrated it in "Akhlaq al-Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him)" (3) through the chain of Ishaq bin Isma'il al-Taliqani from 'Adi bin al-Fadl, and some corruptions have occurred in it (in its text or chain).
Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la narrated it in his "al-Musnad al-Kabir" (as in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" 2709 and 3830), Ibn Hibban in "al-Majruhin" 1/ 221, al-Tabarani in "al-Du'a'" (1943), Ibn al-Sunni in "'Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah" (191), and Tammam al-Razi in "al-Fawa'id" (1629), through the chain of Jubarah bin al-Mughallis from Hammad bin Zayd from Ishaq bin Suwayd.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Ya'la added 'Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) in his chain, while its narrator "Jubarah bin al-Mughallis" is matruk (abandoned).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In this chapter there is also a narration from Muhammad bin Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him), found in Ibn Abi Shaybah 8/ 48 and al-Nasa'i (9944), in which it is mentioned that a woman called out to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Labbayki wa sa'dayki" (Here I am at your service, and happy to help you).
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
