It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: A Bedouin of Banu Fazarah (of Banu Umm Qirfah) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while a cupper was cupping him (peace and blessings be upon him) with cupping vessels (made of horns) and making an incision with a blade. He asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is this? Why do you allow him to cut your skin? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is hijamah (cupping)." He asked: What is hijamah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the best of the things with which people treat themselves."
