It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the delegation of Abd al-Qays from the people of Hajar came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards them and named the various kinds of their dates, until he had counted out all the kinds of their dates. A man among them said: O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, had you been born in the land of Hajar, you would not have known more than you do at this moment. I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you sat down with me, your land was raised up before me, and I looked at its nearest and its farthest parts. The best of your dates is the barni; it removes disease and there is no disease (harm) in it."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In the handwritten manuscripts it is written thus: "Abd al-Rahman", whereas the correct name is "Abd Allah".
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ubayd bin Waqid al-Qaysi (also said to be al-Laythi) is a weak narrator. About Uthman bin Abd Allah al-Abdi, al-Azdi said he is weak, and besides his weakness he is also "majhul" (unknown). Al-Uqayli said in his book "al-Du'afa'" that his hadith is not preserved (ghayr mahfuz) and that he is known only through it. Al-Dhahabi in the "Talkhis" declared it defective because of Uthman and said that the hadith is "munkar". Reference / Source: Al-Uqayli recorded it in "al-Du'afa'" (1174) and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Tibb al-Nabawi" (822) by way of Muhammad bin Khalid bin Khidash; and al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" (6092) by way of Abu al-Khattab Ziyad bin Yahya; both of them narrated it from Ubayd bin Waqid al-Qaysi, with this same chain. Details of the narration: Al-Tabarani says that no one narrated this hadith from Humayd al-Tawil except Uthman bin Abd Allah, and Ubayd bin Waqid is alone in narrating it. Details of the narration: This narration will come later with the author (al-Hakim) under number (8447) from the hadith of Mazidah, but in its chain too there is a "majhul" narrator. (5487). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On the topic of the virtue of "barni" dates there is also a narration from Buraydah, found in al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 5/ 112, al-Ruyani's "Musnad" (43 M), Ibn Adi's "al-Kamil" 5/ 279 and al-Bayhaqi's "Shu'ab al-Iman" (5487). 57. Grading: Its chain is da'if. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hatim al-Razi declared it weak, as mentioned in "Bayan Khata' al-Bukhari", p. 57. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This narration is also reported from Abu Umamah al-Bahili in Ibn Sam'un's "al-Amali" (23) and Abu Nu'aym's "al-Tibb" (457). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In its chain is "Shahr bin Hawshab", in whom there is some weakness (lin). Note / Clarification: Besides this there are other supporting reports which al-Suyuti mentioned in "al-La'ali' al-Masnu'ah", but we have disregarded them because of their severe weakness.
