Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7613

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a marfu' report, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease without sending down its cure, except old age. So hold fast to (drinking) the milk of cows, for they graze from every kind of tree and herb."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) The hadith is sahih, and its narrators are trustworthy.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ja'far bin Awn's hearing from al-Mas'udi (who is Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah bin Utbah) is apparently sound and before the deterioration, because he is a Kufan. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar stated explicitly in "al-Taqrib" that whoever heard from al-Mas'udi in Baghdad heard after the deterioration (and Ja'far is a Kufan). Likewise, Umar bin Ali al-Muqaddami is a senior Basran narrator, and Ibn al-Mubarak is similar, but he is from Marw.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Tayalisi (366), and by al-Harbi in "Gharib al-Hadith" (1/ 69) through the route of Ibn al-Mubarak; by al-Bazzar in "al-Musnad" (1451) through the route of Umar bin Ali al-Muqaddami; and by al-Fakihi in "al-Fawa'id" (129) and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (9/ 345) and "al-Adab" (700) through the route of Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri'. All four of them (al-Tayalisi, Ibn al-Mubarak, al-Muqaddami and al-Muqri') narrate it from al-Mas'udi, with this chain. Al-Harbi's narration is abridged, containing only the second part.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir" (9164) through the route of Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl bin Dukayn, from al-Mas'udi, as mawquf.
